I think it's a cool idea and the price isn't really bad considering, but I doubt they'd ever do it for GW.

It takes 7 minutes to print a 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 block with an average printer.
It also takes 30 minutes-1 hour to heat up an average 3D printer to the point of use.
It seems to me like a very inefficient business. :[

Thats for them to worry about. not you.

I'd like a figure of my Derv in her Vabbian armor and a Ghostly version of my Necro in pre-Searing armor. Admit it...having your own Ghostly would be awesome.

I think it would be interesting to do as a signing off your character thing. you spent years developing your characters. Here is the crown achievement. the memory of it, put into a physical context.
I think the great thing about doing it for these types of things, is that unlike static figures, these where actually designed and is based on your. it is something you created coming to life.
I think some of you guys have a point though. It takes 3 months to get one, it costs 100, and the quality is not the best. Yet I would still do it for my monk and warrior characters. Totally!!!

It's called a rapid prototype machine. It is anything but rapid though, it takes around a day just to print a small hollowed out cone.
I know because I have access to one...
EDIT:the zprinter posted in this thread only prints 400dpi...and it takes 4 hours for that little CAD model

I'd pay up to £150 IF it was modelled exactly how it looks in the game to a T.
I don't see the quality being ready for GW characters just yet.

You don't think they do the same thing in WoW?
If you read the FAQ, they say that they will alter the model so that it is feasible in physical form. That means that they would give the 2D sheets a third dimension.

Even if they just sold the main chars from GW I'd buy em. e.g: Koss, Eve, Mhenlo, Cynn etc.

Spores and EA has been printing their characters too. nice to look at but I think its a waste of time, money and material and after 10 years the figures will become another piece of junk that is unable to biodegrade bla bla,(insert those that you don't want to hear stuffs here)
and you know Guild Wars is very fun to play and I absolutely adore it, just so it stick to the rules of the riverside ...
